IKEA to close a sawmill in Poland

As Polish media reports, IKEA Industry will close its sawmill in Chociwel in northwestern Poland. According to the company, the sawmill has a sawing capacity of 150,000 m3 and produces 80,000 m3 of lumber per year.

IKEA Industry acquired the plant in 1993 and has since carried out several modernizations.

Nevertheless, the factory is not on a competitive state of the art, and the decision to close is justified.

Operations at the sawmill should continue until June 2020, after the plant will be closed. IKEA wants to source the required sawn timber from other sawmills in the group.
