Finland’s sawn goods production down 4% in 2019

In 2019, the production volume of sawn goods in Finland decreased from the previous year. The production of sawn goods ended up to 11.3 million cubic meters, which was four percent less than year before, according to the Natural Forest Research Institute (Luke).

The production volume of plywood decreased 11 percent from the previous year to 1.1 million cubic meters.

In 2019, the amount of wood pulp production was 11.6 million tonnes. The production of wood pulp decreased by one percent from the year 2018. The share of mechanical pulp was 3.3 million tonnes (-7 percent from the previous year), and the share of chemical pulp 8.3 million tonnes (+2 percent).

Paper and paperboard production fell to 9.5 million tonnes. The share of paper production was 5.8 million tonnes (-14 percent from the previous year), and the share of paperboard production was 3.7 million tonnes (-3 percent).
