In January 2019, the German producer prices for wood products show two different trends. Compared to the same month last year, there is still a clear upward trend. Compared to December, only half of the values increased, for the most part only minimally.
Compared to January 2018, some there are some falling prices, all in the area of wood-based panels: raw particle boards, MDF boards and laminate floors. All other values are rising. The most significant increases are shown by OSB boards, narrow boards and finger-jointed softwood.
In the short-term view, compared to December 2018, only twelve out of 26 prices are in the plus. Another twelve have fallen, two unchanged. About half of the positive values are well below 1%. The most significant increases are shown by finger-jointed softwood and pellets, followed by plywood and beech lumber packaging.
The biggest declines in prices compared to December were reported by pallets, followed by stockpile wood, OSB boards and wide boards.
