German producer prices for commercial wood products continued to fall in October 2019, both year-on-year and as compared to the previous month.
Compared to October 2018, only eight of the 26 listed values are positive. The clearest plus are hardwood lumber (apart from oak) as well as doors and ledges. Opposite are 18 fallen values, including all sawn timber assortments and almost all wood-based materials. The figures for wide boards, raw chipboard and OSB boards fell the most, all more than 10%. Declines of between 5% and 10% are seen in pallets, wood chips, narrow boards, spruce lumber, engineered wood, HDF boards and reserved squares.
Compared to September, only five values show barely noticeable changes, of which the strongest is 0.6% for pellets. As in the previous year, 18 values have been been on a downward trend, especially construction solid wood with minus 4.7%. This is followed by wood chips and melamine-coated chipboard. And oak lumber has yielded around 1.35 compared to September.
