According to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. exports of forestry products to China decreased dramatically in 2019. In the past years, since 2014, exports of between US 2$ billion and US$ 3 billion were made in the first 10 months. In 2018, exports reached US$ 2.56 billion. In 2019, this value dropped to around US$ 1.4 billion, a decrease of 45%.
Worldwide U.S. exports of forest and wood products decreased by 18%. From January to October 2019, the export value was US$ 6.8 billion. It was approximately US$ 8.3 billion in the same period last year. The U.S.-China trade conflict has a severe impact on the US forestry and timber industry.
